Dolce & Gabbana Debuts A Line Of Hijabs And Abayas
This week, Dolce & Gabbana debuted its first line of hijabs and abayas, the head scarves and robes many Muslim women wear as part of their faith. The brand released images of the collection to Style.com/Arabia (where you can also find a post on makeup to wear with your D&G hijab, which is a beauty-related consideration I’d never thought of).
The hijabs and abayas are predictably beautiful – they’re described as having “a lightweight and dramatic drape” with “copious lace details,” in elegant neutrals with lemon accents. The brand is doing right by its global customer base – as Cosmo points out, Muslims comprise 23 percent of the world’s population. Dolce & Gabbana isn’t the first well-known brand to make hijabs and abayas – H&M and Uniqlo got there first – but it is the first luxury brand, and hopefully this collection will help to set a more inclusive trend in women’s fashion.
