Girl Touches Elf On The Shelf, Calls 911 Because She Thinks She Upset Santa
In what was likely one of the most adorable (but inconvenient) 911 calls, New Jersey 7-year-old Isabella Laperuta called the police after she accidentally touched her Elf on the Shelf.
Isabella broke the cardinal rule of Elf on the Shelf (thou shalt not touch the elf for fear of dispeling Christmas magic) after her elf fell on the ground, and immediately called 911 to report her indiscretion: possibly upseting Santa.
However, when 911 operators answered, she froze up, likely realizing this was an inappropriate call, and told the officers: “Don’t come to my house! Please!”
Legally, they were required to respond to the call either way. Apparently upon arrival an officer found her crying, explaining that he should leave and that she would never touch her Elf on the Shelf again.
Her mother was napping when the officer arrived, and woke up to her daughter desperately trying to get him to leave.
“I think she knows not to call 911 unless it’s an emergency, and an Elf of the Shelf falling off the shelf is not an emergency,” concluded her mother.
