Bill Cosby Is Countersuing 7 Of His Accusers For Defamation

Bill Cosby stands accused by over 50 women, all of whom allege that the disgraced entertainer drugged and sexually assaulted them. Now, according to TMZ, Cosby has countersued seven accusers — three of whom have filed their own libel lawsuit — claiming that their allegations are “malicious, opportunistic, false and defamatory.”

A tweet sent by his lawyer, Monique Pressley, clearly outlines the reason for his countersuit against the three plaintiffs, Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz, as well as Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie. In the statement, Pressley says that Cosby is claiming emotional distress, stating that the women’s claims of sexual assault have caused shame, mortification and damages to his property, business and reputation.

Cosby’s countersuit was filed in Massachusetts. In October, U.S. District Judge Mark Mastroianni threw out Cosby’s bid to dismiss the libel lawsuit, saying essentially that Cosby is liable for any statement he, his publicists or his lawyers have said.
