Ben Carson Says Transgender Military Members Are ‘A Distraction’
Yesterday, Ben Carson told military veterans at an event in Waterloo, Iowa that the military is not the place to deal with the “transgender thing.”
That’s right, someone’s identity is “just a thing” according to Carson.
It seems like as soon as you think Carson is going to say the worst, most offensive thing ever, he one-ups himself every time. It’s almost impressive, except at this point I am just exhausted.
When our men and women are out there fighting the enemy, the last thing we need to be doing is saying what would it be like if we introduced several transgender people into this platoon. Give me a break. Deal with the transgender thing somewhere else. The military has a very important job, their job is to protect us, the last thing they need are a bunch of distractions.
Sound familiar? Oh yeah, it’s almost – sorry – EXACTLY the same bias that we used to have about gay people in the military with Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
Remember that there is a T in LGBT.
As it stands now, transgender individuals are banned from serving in the military. Around 15,000 transgender people serve in the armed forces, but must continue to conceal their gender identities from their peers.
