5 Black Lives Matter Activists Shot By White Assailants During Minneapolis Protest

Last night, gunfire interrupted a Black Lives Matter protest in Minneapolis when three white males, allegedly wearing masks and bullet proof vests, shot five people, all of whom thankfully survived. The protest was being held right near the 4th police precinct in north Minneapolis, and was in response to the police shooting death of an unarmed Black man named Jamar Clark. According to a BLM organizer, the three suspects, all white men, were seen loitering near the encampment and when a few protestors tried to lead them away due to their “strange behavior,” the men drew their guns and opened fire before fleeing the scene. Even though the shooting occurred just outside the police precinct, the men managed to get away and are still on the loose.

Here is a short video of a witness explaining what he saw occur:

Minneapolis police said the five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, though there have been reports that one of the victims was shot in the stomach and required surgery. BLM organizers have vowed to continue on, though Jamar Clark’s brother has called for an end to the protest outside the 4th police precinct “out of imminent concern for the safety of the occupiers.”

There has been a lot of talk lately about terrorism and ISIS and whether we should allow Syrian refugees to come to this country and blah blah blah, but this right here? This is homegrown terrorism likely exacted by white supremacists or at least a white supremacist ideology. You know, the same ideology upheld by people who tweet racist and factually inaccurate memes and condone violence against protestors at their events. Just saying.
