Woman Wins Right To Wear Colander On Her Head For ID Photo
In what is apparently becoming a legal movement, a Massachusetts woman, Lindsay Miller, has officially won the right to wear a colander on her head in her driver’s license photo because of her Pastafarian Atheist identity.
Normally, any kind of headwear is disallowed in driver’s license photos, but exceptions are made for religious headwear. As part of an effort to point out “crazy nonsense done in the name of religion” (their words, not mine), various Pastafarians have been litigating for the right to wear colanders in their driver’s license photos as Pastafarian headgear.
In the past few years, an Austrian man and former porn star Asia Carrera have both won the right to wear colanders in their ID photos. Miller, for her part, says she’s “delighted” by the RMV’s decision to respect her religion. “While I don’t think the government can involve itself in matters of religion, I do hope this decision encourages my fellow Pastafarian Atheists to come out and express themselves as I have.”
