Muslims Use #MuslimsAreNotTerrorist Twitter Hashtag To Counter Prejudice In Wake Of Paris Attacks
After last night’s terrorist attacks in Paris, social media has reacted with its usual influx of positive support and activism, but also predictably, the fire-storms of boundless bigotry.
There are 1.6 Billion Muslims in the world, and among them, only a few thousand fanatics who are terrorist factions – extremists – who are completely separate. Think of it like fundamentalist Christians, the groups that become White Supremacists and kill for their “religion.”
ISIS, Alquaida, etc, they are not the same thing as Muslim, they are terrorists and they wish to destroy the peaceful notion of Islam with their own extreme agenda. It’s important now to listen to the peaceful Muslims who are speaking against the rampant Islamophobia now taking place.
Thousands of Muslims have taken to Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #MuslimsAreNotTerrorist in order to enlighten the world to this fact.
