How Many Of These Female-Driven TV Comedies Are You Watching?

Oh my goodness! Look at all these non-man comedies on TV! Who do these women think they are! More empathetic, focused, aesthetically-pleasing, versions of your typical guy comedians?

Oh yes. Yes, that’s exactly it.

So are you watching these shows? All of them? NONE?!?!? IT IS YOUR FEMINIST DUTY TO BLOB OFF IN SWEATPANTS TO THIS SHIT, MY FRIENDS!

DOLL &  EM (HBO) starring Dolly Wells and Emily Mortimer. Waaaaait a second, you’re telling me you can put two skinny British women on one screen at the same time and BOTH CAN BE FUNNY!? Excuse me while I relearn everything I ever thought I knew. (I really love this show.) Will there be a third season? The internet does not know.

BROAD CITY (Comedy Central) starring Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. “I’m working on my Broad City spec script,” is one of the most commonly uttered sentence among unfamous New York City comedians for good reason. Comedy Central hasn’t told us exactly when, but Season 3 starts in 2016.

JANE THE VIRGIN (The CW) starring Gina Rodriguez is in its second season now. I haven’t seen it. My sister says it’s a winner. She’s smarter than me. Let’s all give this one a go.

GARFUNKEL & OATS (IFC) starring Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome. Guess what. This show got CANCELED. But I’m putting season 1 of it on this list anyway because I believe with all of my spirit crystals that this show is EXCELLENT and was UNDERRATED.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK (Netflix) starring Taylor Schilling. Duh, everyone knows this show is amazing. The season 4 release date has not been set yet. I’m just saying, I won’t plan my wedding until I know it. I mean, I’m not engaged so this won’t be hard, but still.

THE MINDY PROJECT (Hulu) starring Mindy Kaling. Eeeeeeep I don’t like this show! I don’t know why! I think Kaling is so funny in everything else! But I’m glad Hulu kept the show alive after FOX let it go. Okay let’s move on because I feel guilty.

GIRLS (HBO) starring Lena Dunham, Jemima Kurke, Allison Williams, and Zosia Mamet. Season 5 starts February 21, 2016, and Goddess Dunham says the 6th season will probably be the last. D:

GIRLFRIENDS’ GUIDE TO DIVORCE (Bravo) starring Lisa Edelstein and the wonderful Janeane Garofalo. I haven’t watched this, Bravo’s first scripted show, but its second season premieres December 1 already! I feel like I’ve been missing out.

CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND (The CW) starring Rachel Bloom, is in its first season. I haven’t watched this because the title turned me off. If one more man tells me I’m “crazy” for not simply nodding and smiling my way through a date like dumb horny baby, I’m going to chop off his ears and make him watch me eat them since he doesn’t use them anyway. See! Not crazy at all! But I’ve heard this show has some really funny moments… and some really bad ones, too.

INSIDE AMY SCHUMER (Comedy Central) starring Amy Schumer, who everyone already knows is perfection in her amazing sketch show. I bow to you, queen Amy person. Season 4 starts in April.

VEEP (HBO) starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is so funny, but I don’t watch it consistently. I think this is my fault and not the show’s. In any case, it returns (but without its creator!) for season 5 sometime next year.

THE UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT (Netflix) starring the adorable Ellie Kemper was such a hit! I thought it was only okay! Don’t tell Tina Fey, because she’s my #1 hero! Season 2 doesn’t seem to have a release date yet, but it’s definitely happening.

THE HOTWIVES (Hulu) starring Kristen Schaal, Tymberlee Hill, Angela Kinsey, Dannah Phirman, Andrea Savage, Danielle Schneider, Casey Wilson and Erinn Hayes, is in its second season, which set in Vegas. This show is a parody of Real Housewives, with each season set in a different city. Is it hilarious? Don’t know, never watched. But the casts are killer, so I’m guessing this show is good fun.

ANOTHER PERIOD (Comedy Central) starring Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindholm. If you’re not already a Natasha fan(fiction writer), you’re really missing something fun. I am also missing something fun, because I haven’t seen this show yet and I better do it before I get kicked out of feminism. Comedy Central renewed this show—about two sisters seeking fame and fortune in 1902 Rhode Island—for a second season set to premiere next year.

TEACHERS (TV Land) starring the improv group The Katydids. This show looks so funny. It’s about a bunch of elementary school teachers who don’t give any fucks. It premieres January 12.

A GOOD PLACE (working title) (NBC) from “Parks and Rec” creator Mike Schur. It’s about a woman struggling with what it means to be good. That’s all I know, but I’m hoping for blow job disasters. (What? I think they are funny!)

IMAGINARY FRIEND (NBC) from Kassia Miller, who won an NBC contest! Isn’t that neat!? It’s about a nice lady with an imaginary friend, obvs.

FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE (TBS) Political and news criticism, NOW FROM THE MOUTH OF A WOMAN! HOORAY! Premieres in January.

NOT SAFE WITH NIKKI GLASER (Comedy Central) is an upcoming advice show about S-E-X! It premieres early next year, and my dainty ass vag is waxing itself in anticipation.

IDIOTSITTER (Comedy Central) starring Charlotte Newhouse and Jillian Bell, was a web series about a young woman hired to babysit a spoiled grown woman under house arrest in her daddy’s mansion. I can’t wait to watch in 2016.
