Wisconsin Attorney Real Sorry For Trying To Kill His Wife Three Times

Fred Auston Wortman III, a Wisconsin attorney, took the stand himself this week during a plea hearing regarding his attempts to kill his wife Staci on three different occasions.

While the pair were separated, Fred Wortman had sneaked back into their previously shared home and attempted to poison her toothpaste. He was already about to be indicted for that when police came to Staci Wortman’s house to inform her that he had attempted to solicit the services of a “hitman” who turned out to be an agent of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations in order to have her killed. Then, while he was in jail, he tried to bribe another inmate to kill her.

But he’s real sorry!

On the witness stand, Wortman said, “No apology which I offer will be sufficient to all who I have disappointed, let down and hurt. I do apologize to Staci, the Jones, my parents, my family, most of all I apologize to my three precious children.”

Damn right no apology would be sufficient. How do you even apologize for a thing like that? Also, if it’s a thing you’d be sorry for, why would you attempt to do it on three separate occasions? Also also, if you are an attorney, why would you not just like, find another attorney who specializes in divorce cases and get divorced? You know, rather than try to murder your wife on three separate occasions. Frankly, it seems less complicated and time-consuming.

For her part, when Staci Wortman took the witness stand, she said, “Your children are praying for you daily that your heart will change..I still struggle, but my children are the greatest victims. They know he’s in jail. They know he wanted me not to be alive any more. They know he has to face the consequences.”

The fact that she’s even discussing the topic of his heart “changing” signals to me that she is a much nicer and more forgiving person than I am. Yeesh.
