Raven-Symoné Is Staying On “The View,” Despite Petition To Remove Her
Former child star and current contrarian Raven-Symoné has used her short time at “The View” to stir up a world of shit. She told Oprah that she refuses to be identified as anything but American. She put her foot in her mouth with the Watermelondrea Scandal of October 2015.
Her latest infraction against human decency occurred last week, when she seemingly justified police officer Ben Fields’ vicious assault of a teenage girl who refused to leave her classroom, saying, “You’ve got to follow the rules in school.” Viewers of this old-ass TV show, which should probably be put out of its misery entirely, have had enough, but, as the Washington Post reports, Raven is here to stay, despite her numerous detractors.
There’s a Change.org petition asking for her removal from the show, started by someone claiming to be Gil Scott-Heron’s daughter, Che Scott-Heron. As of Monday morning, there are almost 130,000 signatures. But, ABC is hanging onto Raven for ratings, if nothing else. She’s a surefire way to get people to watch, click, yell at the sky in anger, and tweet their rage.
“We love Raven,” the network said in a statement. “She is confident, genuine and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel.”
And with fuckery of every stripe happening in this nation, Raven will always find a way to Raven. For every thousand detractors, there’s an equal amount of people gleefully tuning in to watch what she’s going to say next.
