The Official Trailer For “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Is Here!
YO. The new official trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has got me HYPED. First of all, the stars of the film seem to be A WOMAN and a BLACK MAN! Hallefuckinglujah! Diversity can be found in a galaxy far, far away! My sense from the trailer and the description of the characters on StarWars.com is that Rey, our female lead played by Daisy Ridley, is sort of the Luke Skywalker of the film, the one who the Force is calling to. Finn, played by John Boyega, is described as “a trained warrior desperate to escape his past” who is “plunged into adventure as his conscience drives him down a heroic, but dangerous, path,” is kind of giving me Han Solo meets Obi-wan vibes. And then there’s the Darth Vader-y sounding dude, played by a masked Adam Driver (aka Adam from “Girls”) — that’s Kylo Ren, who basically appears to be one of many Vader stans who’ve emerged since ol’ Darth kicked the bucket some 30 years before.
There are glimpses of some your old faves, like a weathered but still dashing Han Solo, the ever lovely Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and that adorable rolling trash basket R2D2 — plus what COULD be Luke Skywalker’s arm. Watch above and nerd out in theaters when the seventh film in George Lucas’s franchise is released December 18. [The Guardian]
