Target Store Plays The Worst Part Of Porn Over Its PA System

A Target store in San Jose, California played audio from a porn film over their PA system for 15 minutes on Wednesday. It gets worse: Wednesday was a “mommy and me” day at the store, so it was packed with moms and their kids.

One of those moms was Bethany Curran, who took video of her trip, asking, “What is going on at Target right now?” as her three-year-old twins started to cry. She says that other customers offered to help cover her kids’ ears, but that Target employees were just laughing and shooting video. Which – they’re Target employees. I’m not shocked.

Of course, you don’t have to be prude to understand why this is horrible, because A) kids shouldn’t be subjected to sexually explicit materials like this, especially when, as Curran reports, there’s a ton of racist and sexist language in it, and B) everyone knows that audio is the worst part of porn. It’s awful. I mute porn the vast majority of the time, because it’s impossible to suspend disbelief about the plausibility of the scene when people are either refusing to stop groaning and talking for even a second, or making sounds like seals.

Anyway, it appears that this is an ongoing problem for Target stores in California – a store in San Luis Obispo had the same thing happen in July. Target, get your act together!
