Watch Misty Copeland Class Up Late Night Television With Yo-Yo Ma

Misty Copeland, American Ballet Theatre’s first black principal dancer and general badass dancing angel, was on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” last night to have a chat. Once that was done, she donned this fancy red unitard, strapped on her toe shoes and, in the words of my high school dance teacher, peed all over the stage.

Yo-Yo Ma accompanied her on the cello and every person in that audience was certainly blown away by the double-shot of sheer talent and force of will that was present on stage. Please, America, I don’t know who we have to call but there should be more actual dancing on television. Imagine! Once a week, on your late night television show of choice, a ballerina showed up on national television, and fouetté’d the shit out of that stage. A girl can dream. [EW]
