Stephanie Meyer Releases Gender-Flipped Version Of Twilight

It’s been 10  years since we were first introduced to the sparkly, ice-cold, eternal love between Bella and Edward in Twilight. And now, in response to the fact that Edward was kind of a dick (with a powerfully cold penis that, apparently fucked the bed up when they finally did it), Meyer has released a gender-flipped version of the sparkle-vamp/normal girl/werewolf love story, featuring a brooding teen boy named Beau who moves to Washington and falls in love with the beautiful and mysterious vampire Edythe.

According to Meyer, she wanted to reflect that hey, this magical love story is just a love story, regardless of gender! Bella wasn’t a damsel in distress who fell in all-consuming love with an elusive, possibly abusive and definitely really fucking annoying vampire who glittered in the sun, guys. Because the same thing could totally happen if the genders were flip-flopped! Just listen to Meyer:

“The further you get in, the more it changes because the personalities get a little bit different, but it starts out very similar and really, it really is the same story because it’s just a love story and it doesn’t matter who’s the boy and who’s the girl, it still works out.”

So! If you’re into this or want to revisit the dark and terrible place you might have been in during 2005 when this cultural phenomenon touched down, please avail yourself of this exciting and fun double-release, so you can read them back to back. Just what you wanted. [Good Morning America]
