Donald Trump Is Quite Blasé About The Oregon Shooting
Presidential as always, Donald Trump was quite comfortable blowing off the shooting in Oregon as not any kind of big deal–and that as President, he would not attempt to do anything to halt mass shootings, because these kinds of things just happen.
“You’re going to have these things happen and it’s a horrible thing to behold, horrible,” Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“It’s not politically correct to say that, but you’re going to have difficulty and that will be for the next million years, there’s going to be difficulty and people are going to slip through the cracks,” Trump added. “What are you going to do, institutionalize everybody?”
Yeah, well–sorry Trump! But there is something that might help! Stricter gun control laws. Obviously Trump can’t say that, because he needs NRA support, but it’s rather off-putting to have someone who is trying to be President just throw their hands up and literally say “Whaddaya gonna do?” I mean, in some ways that’s actually more disconcerting than the people going “No! The answer is to have no gun control laws! You know! So there are more ‘good guys with guns’! That’ll work!” I mean, shit, I guess at least they have some kind of plan.
Which like, in case you hadn’t heard–there actually was a “good guy with a gun” there at the time, but as a trained veteran, he wasn’t stupid enough to try and go after the shooter and end up getting more people killed.
