Caitlyn Jenner Expresses Change Of Heart On Gay Marriage

Last week, Caitlyn Jenner appeared on “Ellen” and expressed some uncertainty about whether she supports marriage equality, telling the openly gay and married talk show host, “I kind of like tradition, and it’s always been a man and a woman. I’m thinking, ‘I don’t quite get it.’” It was a disappointing lack of endorsement for an issue of the utmost importance to the LGBTQ community, which has been so supportive of Jenner during her gender transition. And it seems Jenner has taken the criticism she received to heart, because she wrote a very thoughtful post on her blog about how her position on the issue has evolved:

I want to help each of you understand something that I only recently embraced: Being different is okay – in fact, it’s great! But I also understand it takes some getting used to. Like many people, there was a time when I didn’t realize how important it is for gay couples to have the right to get married. But after hearing from my gay friends and learning more about the hardships they faced because of discrimination, it became clear to me that everyone should be able to marry the person they love.

This makes me happy, primarily because it shows how much and how quickly one’s feelings and opinions can evolve if you are simply open to listening to other people’s experiences. So bravo to Caitlyn Jenner for demonstrating that. [Caitlyn Jenner]

Shannon Lamb, the Delta State University professor who is believed to have killed his girlfriend, Amy Prentiss, and fellow professor Ethan Schmidt yesterday, has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Very little is still understood about the motive behind yesterday’s murders. [Gawker]

Rapper French Montana has finally moved on from Khloe Kardashian and is apparently dating actress Sanaa Lathan. However, I am far more interested in the little aside mentioned at the link that French has also been hanging out with Dorothy from “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills,” who I cannot imagine spending longer than 10 minutes with thanks to her painnnnnnnnful SoCal princess voice.
