Taiwan Is Featuring A Porn Star On Their Transit Cards

Taipei’s public transit system will be featuring a popular Japanese porn star on a set of limited-edition fare cards. Can the Chicago Ventra system borrow this branding model?

The cards will feature Yui Hatano in “devil” and “angel” editions, and the photos are (sadly) not pornographic at all – they’re just pictures of Hatano looking respectively sultry and sweet. People are still pissed, of course, because porn stars are boogeymen apparently.

A spokeswoman for EasyCard said, “This set of cards is suitable to put in your wallet and collect. When you look at it, it will cheer you up.” And they are suitable! No one would know that this is even a porn actress unless they were very, very familiar with porn. Hatano is apparently trying to make a career change, and this was supposed to be a step toward more conventional modeling and acting. Hatano asked, “Just because I am an adult video porn star … does it mean that I cannot pay a debt of gratitude to my beloved Taiwan?”

Additionally, all the proceeds from the cards are going to charity. I mean, what is there to object to here, outside of the existence of porn? Some people will fuss about anything, I guess.
