Governor Chris Christie Thinks We Should Track Immigrants Like FedEx Packages

Perhaps New Jersey Governor and 2016 Republican Presidential candidate Chris Christie, is trying to sound more like Donald Trump in his audaciousness, because his most recent doozie is really something else.

At an event in New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon, Christie actually said:

“We let people come to this country with visas and the minute they come in, we lose track of them. So here’s what I’m gonna do as president: I’m gonna ask Fred Smith, the founder of FedEx, to come over to the government for three month. Just come for three months to immigration and customs enforcement and show them.”

Of course it was all laughs in the audience but it is quite obvious that the underlying message from this kind of “joke” is that immigrants should be monitored in a dehumanizing way.

Here’s an idea, instead of packages, why don’t we treat them like people?
