Planned Parenthood Website Suffers Second Attack In A Week
Planned Parenthood’s website is down for the second time in a week after a group of what the organization is (justifiably, I think) calling “extremists” carried out a Distributed Denial of Service attack, flooding the site with traffic so that genuine visitors can’t access it.
Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said that service had been restored to the web site, but that Planned Parenthood was keeping it down so that they could “ensure we are fully protected.” The DDoS attack comes just days after hackers gained access to Planned Parenthood’s databases and threatened to release the names and e-mail addresses of the organization’s employees.
And these attacks, in turn, come in the wake of undercover videos that claim to reveal that Planned Parenthood is selling fetal body parts for profit when in fact, Planned Parenthood is not selling fetal body parts for profit, which I will never stop stressing. Our Republican Congress is threatening to defund Planned Parenthood and reallocate that funding to other women’s health providers, although who knows who they’re even referring to (my guess: anti-abortion misinformation clinics, which, yes, are a real thing).
