President Obama On Bill Cosby: “Any Civilized Country Should Have No Tolerance For Rape”

Speaking at a press conference today, President Barack Obama all but condemned comedian Bill Cosby, who has been accused of drugging and raping over 40 women across four decades. While he did not outright say, “Bill Cosby is a rapist” guilty of the crimes he’s been accused of, Obama did have harsh words regarding Cosby’s admission that he plied women with sedatives prior to “having sex” with them.

“If you give a woman or a man for that matter without his or her knowledge a drug, and then have sex with that person without consent, that’s rape. This country, any civilized country should have no tolerance for rape.”

Over the last few months, as more and more women have come forward accusing Cosby of sexual assault, pressure has mounted to have his Presidential Medal of Freedom revoked. The award is the highest civilian honor that an American can achieve, and was bestowed upon Cosby in 2002, when George W. Bush was president. Obama has not said whether he is considering removing Cosby from the honored list, and there is no precedent, but at the very least we know Cosby won’t be invited to the White House any time soon.
