Sinead O’Connor Calls Kim Kardashian A Cunt & Declares That Music Is Dead

Sinead O’Connor is an incredible singer and a bad ass who once incurred public ire by ripping up a photo of the Pope on live television in protest of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. She is also basically the mean old lady who lives down the street who hollers about turning “that racket down!” and complains about all “the trash on TV these days.” Last year, O’Cranky got a stick up her ass about Miley Cyrus, writing her open letter after open letter, shaming Miley for using her sexuality to sell her music and all sorts of other shit that could be said about, oh, everyone in the music industry right now. YAWN.

Sinead’s latest beef is with Kim Kardashian and Rolling Stone, as it seems she finally noticed that the former is on the cover of the latter, and she had some harsh things to say about it on Facebook:

What is this cunt doing on the cover of Rolling Stone ? Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it? Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be fucking horrified. #BoycottRollingStone

Cunt is one of my favorite words, but I would never ever call a woman a cunt as an insult unless I was prepared to take off my earrings and fight. Really, Kim Kardashian is a cunt? Why, exactly? That’s just #rude.

O’Cranky is clearly horrified that a reality TV star and mogul like Kim would appear on the cover of what she considers a music magazine, and that it signals the death of the music industry. Except, I don’t actually think that Rolling Stone has much influence over the music industry period, these days anyway, and besides that, it has never been JUST a music magazine. It’s a pop culture magazine that largely focuses on music, but also covers other areas of entertainment and politics. Non-musicians have appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone more times than I could possibly count. Where was Sinead’s outrage when Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were on the cover? Or the cast of “The Hills”? Or “Punk’d”-era Ashton Kutcher? WHY AREN’T THEY CUNTS?

And since when does Sinead care about Rolling Stone, or the mainstream music media anyway? Either you’re counterculture or you’re not, O’Cranky! PICK A SIDE. And stop calling women you don’t know names. It’s lame. [Gawker]
