July 4th Selfie Campaign To Help Keep Dogs Safe During Fireworks

Happy 4th of July to American humans! Not so much the doggies of these humans, however.

More pets go missing over the Fourth of July weekend than any other time of year, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Most dog owners keep their dogs inside during the pomp and circumstance, but many pets still get killed by cars when they run away scared from the noise which to them is not some harmless light show in the sky.

In order to raise awareness for this yearly conundrum, Whistle Labs Inc., a San Francisco-based maker of pet health and safety devices, took this issue to social media, and created the hashtag #Lost4Dogs. The hashtag quickly caught on with many pet owners posting super cute selfies with them and their dogs in order to raise awareness.

Today, remember to keep your sweeties inside and cuddle with them as they fear for the scary blasts outside.

Who needs fireworks anyway when you have television indoors, right?
