GOP Leaders Appear In Completely Insane Anti-Gay Documentary
Before we get carried away patting these people on the back for finally recognizing that the Confederate flag is, in fact, a symbol of racism that has no place in a government building–let’s all take a moment here and note that a whole slew of them agreed to appear in anti-gay documentary “Light Wins: How to Overcome the Criminalization of Christianity” alongside activists who think we should be killing people for being gay, like Theodore Shoebat, who thinks gay people should be executed, and Scott Lively, the pastor who helped craft Uganda’s notorious “Kill The Gays” bill.
The documentary was produced and directed by Janet Porter of Faith2Action, who has long worked with Mike Huckabee on various “family values” type projects. She is, as you might imagine, batshit crazy.
Both Huckabee and Rand Paul appear in the film, along with “Rep. Steve King, Rep. Trent Franks, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Tim Huelskamp, David Barton, James Dobson, Mat Staver, Phyllis Schlafly, Scott Lively, Alveda King, Brian Camenker, Frank Pavone, Robert Knight, [and] John Stemberger.”
Now, I am not saying that 2016 Presidential Candidates Mike Huckabee and Rand Paul want to straight up kill people for being gay. However, they are in this documentary supporting its message – which is essentially that LGBT people are a threat to children, and that giving them rights will lead to the “criminalization of Christianity.”
Though the project was announced in February, we now have clips of the actual documentary itself, courtesy of Right Wing Watch.
In this one, Porter explains how elementary school children are being groomed for gay sex by their teachers, a thing that is not actually happening in any legal way whatsoever. She also insists that the bible and school prayer were removed from schools, because they didn’t want to discourage children from lying, cheating, stealing or killing. Also not a thing!
And in this one, Porter explains how homosexuality is dangerous to children, like a McDonald’s toy coated in lead paint or something, because sometimes gay people get HIV and die from it. You know, whereas heterosexual people who get HIV are totally fine? I don’t know.
Also in this one, Porter and Rep. Rep. Gary Glenn lament the fact that in California and Massachusetts, parents can’t send their kids to “counselors” who will teach them how to be straight. Because that always works out so well and definitely hasn’t led to the suicides of many young LGBT teens.
In case you were figuring that, you know, maybe Huckabee and others just appeared in the documentary and didn’t agree with many of the things that were said? Well, you would be wrong, as at least Huckabee has given the film his ringing endorsement.
“Light Wins” reveals the frightening trend not to simply ignore Christian believers, but to rid society of us altogether. This ground breaking, eye opening film will awaken viewers to the fact that being a spectator is no longer an option. One will be part of the solution or part of the problem, and I hope this riveting documentary will cause believers to take notice.”
Here he is appearing in the documentary, right before Janet Porter laments all the people who will have to compromise their beliefs regarding gay marriage. Like fire chiefs. She mentions fire chiefs. Meaning that I guess she’s sad that fire chiefs can’t just let gay people burn to death? Really? Ok.
Between this and the Duggar thing, I am starting to think that Mike Huckabee might want to rethink the whole running for president thing.
Oh, and if all of that wasn’t insane enough for you? Well, uh, there’s a theme song. You’re welcome. Enjoy.
