Zara Gets Slapped With A $40 Million Anti-Gay And Anti-Semitic Discrimination Suit

Zara, your one-stop shop for those really cute sandals and children’s shirts that look like concentration camp uniforms, is being sued by their former corporate attorney, Ian Jack Miller. He claims that he was fired from his role as the first and only in-house counsel for the U.S. and Canada because he’s American, Jewish and gay.

The details of the suit are pretty gross: Miller claims that the head of Zara’s parent company Inditex, Armando Ortega, is largely responsible for the tone and tenor of the company culture. The suit alleges a lot of heinous behavior, including a wide variety of terribly offensive emails sent from higher-ups in the company, including: “Michelle Obama serving fried chicken and emails depicting Barack Obama in a Ku Klux Klan hood, with a Confederate flag, on a Cream of Wheat box, on an Aunt Jemima box, and shining shoes.”  Miller also claims that he was the email recipient of graphic porn featuring gay sex scenes, and harassment from higher-ups about his sexual orientation.
