Here’s A Young Woman On Stage With Kendrick Lamar, Killing “m.A.A.d City”
At this weekend’s Sweetlife Festival, headliner Kendrick Lamar pulled some goofy dude named Jonathan onto the stage to help him out with his song “m.A.A.d City.” Jonathan didn’t know any of the words, and was quickly shooed offstage, “Showtime at The Appollo”-style. Who is Jonathan, you ask? Well, he’s Jonathan Neman, drop-crotch pants enthusiast and the CEO of Sweetgreen, a bourgie and delicious salad mini-chain that sponsored the festival.
Sweetgreen feels so strongly about Kendrick Lamar that they named a salad after him. It is called “Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe” and to order it out loud is embarrassing. A man who loved Kendrick’s music enough to sort-of name a salad after him should know at least some of his songs, right? Eh, maybe. [Claire, BTW, is a Sweetgreen diehard, but I’m pretty sure she never ever orders this salad. — Amelia]
Peace was restored when Kendrick found a nice girl named Ayanna, who got up on stage and fuckin’ killed it. You can watch the whole thing up above. [Pitchfork]
