Baltimore Prosecutors in Freddie Gray Case Seek ‘Gag Order’

In the wake of the arrest and charging of the 6 police officers charged with the murder of Freddie Gray, Rochelle Ritchie, a spokeswoman for State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, confirmed on Friday that Mosby’s office is seeking a gag order on the case.

If you don’t know what this creepy sounding law term is, basically a gag order is a suppression order, which prevents information and or comment getting out into the public sphere. It can also prevent some information getting to third parties.

What this order essentially does is prevent witnesses from commenting and can stall the case. This is probably disquieting news for the defendants and will disrupt the process.

Mosby’s office has released no further details so it is unknown at this juncture what the outcome of this gag order will be.

Stay tuned!
