Super Holy Republican Missouri House Speaker Caught Sexting With Intern

I must have been a very good girl this week, because I just got my absolute favorite present in the whole wide world! A very, very holy, and very married Republican official embroiled in a seedy affair with his college Freshman intern, to whom he was sending sexts to. I’d say “I’ll sleep well tonight,” but the sexts he sent her involved the word “quivering.” QUIVERING, you guys. Quivering.

You can read all of the texts over at the Kansas City Star, but beforewarned, they are either dreadfully boring or super cringey.

Anyway! Let’s get to the important part of all of this! Diehl’s whole schtick is that he really dislikes the gays and is always talking about how much he truly lurves “traditional biblical marriage” and so on. In fact, he often wins awards for it how very, very dedicated he is to preserving morals and traditional biblical marriage!

Via Right Wing Watch:

Earlier this year, Diehl and the president pro-tempore of the state Senate filed an amicus brief in defense of the state’s anti-gay-marriage amendment, leading the Missouri Family Policy Council, the state affiliate of the Family Research Council, to praise the speaker “for demonstrating moral leadership and true integrity in standing up for the sacred institution of marriage and the family values of the people of Missouri.” The state affiliate of the Southern Baptist Convention thanked him for “fighting to defend biblical marriage.”

“Missourians owe a debt of gratitude to Speaker of the House Tim Jones, Senate President Pro Tempore Tom Dempsey and Speaker of the House-designee John Diehl for intervening on behalf of the state in the Jackson County case where state Circuit Judge J. Dale Youngs ruled that 10 same-sex couples married in other states, but now living in Missouri, are entitled to the same benefits as heterosexual married couples,” said Don Hinkle, editor of the Missouri Southern Baptist newsletter The Pathway. “Their action took political courage and they are to be commended for their leadership.”

In addition to this he also sponsored a bill attempting to make Gay-Straight Alliances at high schools illegal! Because again, he loves traditional, biblical marriage and has very high morals, and demonstrates moral leadership and integrity.

Both Diehl and the intern are claiming that these texts are not real–although friends of the intern say that she had told them about the affair. Also, given that the texts included pictures of them both (including of her in a bikini), I am going to call bullshit. That seems like an all too elaborate set-up. No one has time for that.

There is a lesson to be learned here–if you can’t keep it in your pants with your college freshman intern, then you do not get to talk about what other people are doing with the insides of their pants. You need to keep your mouth shut. Also, wasn’t there something in the actual bible about people living in glass houses not throwing stones?

When you are going around, as Diehl was, running your mouth about how moral you are, and how you should be able to say who can get married to whom… you don’t get to fuck up yourself. You lose that privilege. He deserves everything he gets from this, and I hope it ruins his life!
