Texas Students Deface Confederacy President Statue On Campus

Student vandals defaced the statue of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy on the University of Texas Austin campus on Saturday, most recently with the words “Davis must fall” and “Emancipate UT.”

Senior Jamie Nalley defended the attack against the statue saying: “We thought, there are those old ties to slavery and some would find it offensive,”

I am all for this. Bring down the symbols honoring creepy white slave-loving dudes of antiquity, especially on a college campus, a place that should be for learning and progression. [Huffington Post]
