Nepal’s Earthquake Disaster: Where To Send Help

As of Sunday morning, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake outside the capital of Kathmandu has killed more than 2,200 people in Nepal, India and Bangladesh, and has injured even more. It has toppled buildings and triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest. The infrastructures of the surrounding areas has been devastated by the quake.

Here is a list of organizations where you can send help:

  • The humanitarian aid group World Vision is reporting that the immediate needs are food, water and shelter. Visit World Vision home page or text NEPAL to 777444 to donate $10.
  • Donate to The Red Cross through their website’s donation page, choosing Nepal Earthquake Relief from the drop down menu.
  • The United Nations Children’s Fund already has staff in Nepal. UNICEF’s website has information on how what relief is going where. People can also text “Nepal” to 864233 to donate $10.
