“Downton Abbey” Creator To Adapt An Anthony Trollope Romantic Novel For Screen

Julian Fellowes, creator of the wildly popular BBC to PBS drama “Downton Abbey” is working on his next project which will be the adaptation of the novel Doctor Thorne by Anthony Trollope into a new period drama.

The novel is about a penniless girl, Mary, who falls for a rich aristocratic Doctor (Dr. Thorne, obvs). This sounds like perfect old timey soap opera to me! The novel was published in 1858 and is the third in Trollope’s series known as The Chronicles of Barsetshire.

I am going to get reading on this Trollope series stat so I can get ahead. Fellowes’s adaptation will probably be totally melodramatic with perfect costumes and I cannot freaking wait!
