Northern Illinois University Offers Honors Course on ‘Game of Thrones’ This Semester
Hey college kids, want to be part of society’s intellectual decline? Then sign up for NIU’s new honors course “Game of Thrones, Television and Medieval History” that is based on the popular HBO show (not the books that the show is based on by George R.R. Martin).
I’m sure it’s a great course considering this fantasy show that has dragons and magic “represents aspects of the Middle Ages much more realistically than other media depictions that purport to be more accurate.” Ok, I believe you NIU I guess?
Junior accounting major, Alex Weier, says that the show is “deeper and more in-depth than many realize.” FINE, I will take his word for it. I also know that if I was in college I would one-hundred percent without a doubt sign up for this class as if my life depended on it. Maybe my cynicism is just pure jealousy? You’ll see me on my couch this Sunday night watching Game of Thrones and grumbling about the fact that they didn’t have classes like this when I was in college.
