Compassionate Fashion: Wear-Anywhere Basics From Alexis Mera Loungewear
Alexis Mera loungewear was launched to create what is basically my dream breed of clothing: something I could wake up, roll out of bed and into work while wearing, and that could then carry me through brunch, errands and the gym on weekends. Going through your day in stylish clothes that secretly have the comfiness level of sweatpants on the inside is about as good as life can get. FIT grad Alexis Mera Damen created the brand with a similar idea in mind after years of working in merchandising for the sleepwear divisions of major brands like DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger. The price is a bit steeper than your average Target yoga pants, but with the higher expense comes longer-lasting quality and ethical production practices. The pieces, named after Brooklyn streets, are designed in Brooklyn and produced in New York’s garment district, and ten percent of the company’s profits are donated to charity.
