Lane Bryant Comes For Your Beauty Standards With New Campaign #ImNoAngel

Plus size retailer Lane Bryant’s new campaign’s #ImNoAngel highlights and celebrates the beautiful diversity of shapes and sizes. In their new spot for their house line of bras and underwear, Cacique, plus-size models Ashley Graham, Marquita Pring and friends cavort in some really cute lingerie while extending a subtle but direct middle finger to the tyranny of Victoria’s Secret.

The push for diversity in representation has been coming from pretty much every corner of everything, from Cosmo’s gaffe last week, to the very vocal #DropThePlus movement, aimed at doing away with the term “plus-size.” Seeing as we still live in a world where you have to really look hard to find people that look like you if you’re not a thin, white woman, this recent push feels very necessary. It’s comforting when you see yourself reflected back at you in media, because it provides that tiny bit of validation that you’re okay, just as you are, even if you don’t need it. Advertising can’t change the world, but when it aims to reflect the way the world actually looks, that’s a fantastic thing. This campaign is a step in the right direction. [Huffington Post]
