“Slut”-Slinging Jock Laments His “Ruined Life” While Mo’ne Davis Extends Her Forgiveness

  • Mo’ne Davis has forgiven Joey Casselberry, the Bloomburg University baseball player who was cut from his team for calling Davis a slut on Twitter. First, Casselberry tweeted an “apology,” which focused primarily on how sad he is that his “stupid tweet” could ruin his life, and then called Davis “an inspiration,” like calling her a slut was some sort of autocorrect fail. Then Davis, who should not have been expected/asked to even respond to his horrid comments at all — remember, she is only 13 — released a statement which read:

“Everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance. I know he didn’t mean it in that type of way, and I know a lot of people get tired of like seeing me on TV but just think about what you’re doing before you actually do it. I know right now he’s really hurt and I know how hard he worked just to get where he is right now.”

Casselberry doesn’t deserve such kindness or concern, but props to Davis for showing what an incredible human she already is at such a young age. [Washington Post]
