Catcallers Shoot At Man Trying To Stop Them From Harassing A Woman

Street harassment! It’s not just a danger for women anymore! Now, it seems, men are getting shot at for attempting to stop it. Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico are on the lookout for three men who they say shot at a man who told them to stop harassing a woman at a gas station.

Via KOAT:

It was a February Friday around 6:30 p.m. when a young woman was pumping gas at the Valero gas station near Unser and McMahon in Northwest Albuquerque.

According to the police report, three men began harassing her, whistling and saying rude comments. A good Samaritan stepped in and told the men to stop. The men then confronted that gentleman, wanting to fight.

Police say the good Samaritan got back in his car and left, but the three men followed him, shooting at his truck in the middle of traffic, hitting the vehicle at least two times.

Thank goodness no one was hurt, but still–this is horrifying. Many people think street harassment isn’t an especially big deal, but clearly, it can and does escalate into dangerous situations like this. [KOAT]
