Carly Rae Jepsen’s New Single Is Decidedly Uncomplicated

Carly Rae Jepsen’s new song, “I Really Like You,” has a chorus that proclaims — in case the title hadn’t made it clear enough — “I really really really really really really like you.” Profound. Nothing wrong with getting straight to the point! The only problem is that it is painfully reminiscent of the “Song That Gets On Everybody’s Nerves,” and we’ll all have to listen to it approximately one million times over the next six months on the radio, in hotel lobbies, and as hold music on the phone as it desperately campaigns to be 2015’s ~song of the summer~. I’m all about Carly doing her thing (I actually love “Call Me Maybe!”), I just wish the rest of humanity weren’t also forced to go on the ride along with her when this song inevitably takes over the world.
