Patricia Arquette Tweets: “Wage Equality Will Help ALL Women Of All Races In America”

  • Patricia Arquette has clarified her comments that the LGBTQ community and people of color should be fighting for equal pay for women, writing on Twitter: “Wage equality will help ALL women of all races in America. It will also help their children and society. Women have been basically paying a gender tax for generations. I have long been an advocate for the rights of the #LBGT community. The question is why aren’t you an advocate for equality for ALL women? If you are fighting against #Equalpay you are fighting for ALL women and especially women of color to make less money than men. Guess which women are the most negatively effected in wage inequality? Women of color. #Equalpay for ALL women. Women stand together in this.” I’m really glad that Arquette emphasized how WOC face the biggest wage disparity, but I’m still a teensy bit confused as to who within the LGBTQ community she is calling out for not fighting for equality for all women. Gay men? Gay women? [Twitter]

  • Noah Wyle’s wife Sara Wells showed off her growing baby bump at the Vanity Fair Oscar party and I’m really only mentioning this because I WAS SARA WELLS’ THIRD WHEEL PROM DATE IN HIGH SCHOOL. Like, we were going together as friends and then this guy Tyler asked her to prom and she said “Yes, but only if Amelia can come along with us” and I didn’t realize at the time how lame that made me. Anyway, she was always a nice girl so CONGRATS TO THEM! [Us Weekly]
  • The Academy released the following MEH statement about why Joan Rivers — comedienne, actress, entertainer and Oscar red carpet QUEEN — was left out of the In Memorium tribute at the Oscars: “Joan Rivers is among the many worthy artists and filmmakers we were unfortunately unable to feature in the In Memoriam segment of this year’s Oscar show. She is, however, included in our In Memoriam gallery on Oscar.com.” [ABC News]

  • Bobby Brown has apparently not been allowing Nick Gordon, his daughter Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend/husband (it’s unclear), to visit her in the hospital because Gordon has not met certain “terms.” According to Brown’s lawyer, those terms ask Gordon to “place in tangible form his understanding of the events that lead to the hospitalization of  Bobbi Kristina,” i.e. Brown wants to know how and why the hell his daughter was found facedown in a bathtub over two weeks ago.
