Someone Gave Middle School Students Fifty Shades-Inspired Word Searches
Whoops: Someone in a Pennsylvania middle school gave students a Fifty Shades of Grey-themed word search puzzle to bring home this past Monday. Very few details are available about it at this point, but we’re given to believe that it was, in fact, a teacher who handed out the word search. Parents complained at a school board meeting Tuesday night, and the district’s Superintendent said the matter is under investigation.
I get the obsession with the whole Fifty Shades franchise. Really, I do. Actual kinky sex is great, and to all the super-duper vanilla ladies out there, I’m sure it seems accessibly exotic. I also know that even though the books are terrible, people can’t seem to put them down once they start. That being said, this is taking Fifty Shades fandom a little far for whatever teacher distributed these puzzles, no? I didn’t think I’d ever say it, but I’ve found something worse than getting a “Laters, baby” tattoo, and it’s distributing Fifty Shades of Grey-themed word search puzzles to middle schoolers. Also, would it be fair to suggest that you can gauge the quality of a teacher by just how enthralled they are with Fifty Shades of Grey? I think so. [ABC News]
