15 Oprah Quotes To Get You Through Your Winter-Fueled Dark Night Of The Soul

Winter has reared its ugly head, everything is bleak outside, and if you’re anything like me and would rather hide under the covers until spring, we could all use a little inspiration. Luckily for us, media goddess and pseudo spiritual teacher Oprah Winfrey (who turned 61 last week!) provides us with an endless supply of simple wisdom. I will forever be a believer in the Church of Oprah (except for that one time when she let Jenny McCarthy preach her anti-vaxxing nonsense on TV and bring back measles), and despite retiring her talk show, she’s never too far from public reach when you need someone to call you on your bullshit or give you a random speech about the meaning of life and “creating your future.” Having the winter blahs shouldn’t be a reason to slack on working toward things that will make us happy, so let these 15 pick-me-ups from the queen herself get you through the most uninspired stretch of the year.

1. “It isn’t until you come to a spiritual understanding of who you are – not necessarily a religious feeling, but deep down, the spirit within — that you can begin to take control.”
