Duggars Wouldn’t Let Adult Midwife Daughter Be “Exposed” To Unmarried Pregnant Cousin

If there is anything we know about the Duggars, other than the fact that they are not so fond of the gays, it’s that they are way into giving birth. As members of the “Quiverfull Movement” they basically believe that women are supposed to spend their lives having as many babies as humanly possible, so that said babies can the arrows in god’s “quiver” and fight all of the heathens, or something.

However, their enthusiasm for getting knocked up extends only to married women, because I guess god doesn’t want any bastard arrows or something. Two years ago, when Jim Bob’s sister-in-law Anna Duggar’s younger sister Susanna Keller (got that?) got pregnant without being married, they wanted nothing to do with her.

Jill Duggar, who is a midwife, was super excited to help Keller out with the birth of her child. Alas, according to a report from Radar, her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, were not so excited, and in fact banned Jill from having anything to do with the birth or her cousin. Why? Because they didn’t want her to “be exposed to an unmarried mother in that condition.”

Jill, by the way, was 21 years old at the time, and making an actual living helping people have babies. Given that the Duggars are supposed to be very pro-life and all, it seems a bit odd that they would be opposed to helping any woman have a baby, unmarried or not.

I am very curious about the thought process that brought them to that decision. I mean, did they think that if Jill were to help her cousin have a baby that she would immediately decide to go out and get pregnant herself? Moreso than she would by helping a married woman have a baby? Maybe I’m just ignorant of their ways and beliefs, but for the life of me, I cannot possibly figure out what they thought was going to happen there.

Apparently, this cousin was also banned from appearing on their television show, “62 Thousand Kids And Counting (Plus A Lot Of Hideous Floral Dresses!),” as was another relative who is an out and proud lesbian.

Also, though the Duggars were civil to Cousin Hester Prynne at a family gathering last year, they were very upset with the fact that she let her two year-old daughter dance, as they consider dancing to be “too sensual.”

Call me crazy, but I am pretty sure that anyone who looks at a two year-old dancing and says “WELL, that is far too sensual” has a lot more problems than an “unmarried mother.”
