Beauty Test Drive: Bite Luminous Creme Lipstick
In my ongoing mission to wear bold lipstick more regularly, I’ve been trying on whatever tubes of lipstick are put in front of me without much thought. When I swiped on Bite’s Luminous Creme lipstick, I fell in love. This stuff is the best.
Application: What I love most about this lipstick is how smoothly it applies. Just like its name says, it really is creamy, which helps me bypass the weird texture hangup I have with lipstick. The thicker or more solid a lipstick appears to be, the more intimidating I find it and the most I feel like I need to employ some kind of fancy application techniques. This stuff slides on and while it seems to be easier to “go outside the lines” of your lip with this than with other lipsticks, that’s nothing that can’t be fixed easily. It only took a few seconds to apply. The colors I tried out are Tangerine and Lingonberry, a bright orangeish-pink and a pink with purple undertones. I can no longer find them online but they were part of Bite’s Mix N’ Match limited edition line. I also have Fig, a soft pink that I have yet to try. It’s available in a full tube of lipstick rather than a duo, but from what I can tell they’re all the same formula – that formula includes the antioxidant resveratrol, found in red wine, and is natural, non-toxic, and chemical free.
Results: The shade is so bright! What I love is that the color almost seeps into your lips, so even if the color smudges a bit, the shade stays put and can still look bright and intact from far away (you still need to reapply for up-close conversations)! That also meant it took extra effort to get the color off at the end of the night, so applying it is kind of a commitment. When I started to second-guess my bold color choice on a night out, I couldn’t just swipe it off easily, and that forced me to be brave and just own it. I know it’s just makeup, but bold colors can be scary sometimes — and that’s exactly why I love this line!
