Here’s What To Expect From Porn In 2015

PornHub published its 2014 yearly review this week, and it was full of illuminating statistics about what exactly the world gets off to. PornHub analyzed the most popular search terms, countrywide porn statistics, most popular porn stars, the viewing habits of men vs. women, which world events impacted PornHub’s traffic, and even which countries’ viewers last the longest. The data was also used to come up with predictions of what porn trends to anticipate in 2015. Sigh, where would this world be without someone to keep track of these oh-so-important factoids?

First, traffic basics: PornHub raked in 18.35 billion total visits in the past year. Viewers checked out a total of 78.9 billion videos, which is 11 videos for each person on earth. The U.S. lead the way in per capita page views, with Canada and the UK following closely behind it. The most searched term both this year and last was “teen.” “Lesbian” came in second and “MILF,” which was in second place last year, was knocked down to third this time around. Kim Kardashian, perpetually aspiring MILF, must be disappointed about this (not to worry Kim, you’re still the most searched-for porn star by women in the world). Some terms massively increased in popularity this year — “stepmom” came in 14th place in 2013 but wrapped up 2014 in 4th place, and “stepsister” gained popularity as well. Family fun! Other gainers included searches relating to group activities like “threesome” and “gangbang.” Another favorite was the old favorite “creampie.” In the words of the survey report, “the world witnessed some interesting get-togethers on PornHub this year!” Yes. Yes it did.

Search terms that saw the greatest increases proportionally in the last year are “lesbian seduces straight girl,” “shemale fuck girl,” and “lesbians scissoring.” Such variety! When broken down by country, the results reveal that the most common search term was “lesbian” in both the U.S. and the U.K. and “teen” in Canada. The top porn star in all three countries was Lisa Ann. The most popular search term in many countries was the viewers’ own nationalities. On average, 23 percent of PornHub’s worldwide viewers are women, so the site also broke down stats by gender. As it happens, female viewers are far more into group sex and same-sex porn than male viewers. The data also revealed viewers’ lasting power by gauging the duration of their visit to the site, with viewers in Nepal topping the list at an average of 13 minutes and 39 seconds. American last an average of 9 minutes and 40 seconds on the site, and Mississippi is the longest-lasting state with an average of 10 minutes and 47 seconds.

Results also revealed that, like, nobody watches porn on their iPad. The majority of users watched on either their phone or computer. Turkey and Indonesia were especially keen on sharing porn traffic via phones this year. Almost half of viewers use Google Chrome over other browsers and a huge majority of computer-based viewers use Windows over OSX. The site saw a big decrease in traffic on holidays like New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve, as well as during major world events like the World Cup Finals. PornHub also saw a dip in traffic this past year during the Oscars, the “Game of Thrones” finale, and “The Walking Dead” premiere.

So, what can we expect in the 2015 porn landscape? Lots of stepmoms and horny teenagers. Oh, and Lisa Ann. Lisa Ann everywhere. You can view the fascinating full results, complete with several nifty charts, here. It’s SFW, promise!
