Naya Rivera Publicly Slut-Shames Kim Kardashian, As If Anybody Cares What She Thinks About Kim’s Butt

When Kim Kardashian’s ass broke — or did not break, depending on whether you work at The Frisky and your servers are just being slow — the internet, “Glee” actress Naya Rivera, noted Kardashian try-hard, felt the need to share her unsolicited opinion on the matter. When Kim posted her Paper magazine cover featuring her glistening bare ass on Instagram, Naya commented:

“I normally don’t. But…you’re someone’s mother….”

First of all, Naya, who even are you? Did anyone ask what she thinks? Rivera is definitely not someone’s mother, so I’m not sure what wealth of experience she’s drawing on by deciding how a mother should or shouldn’t behave. Yes, having a kid means stepping up in a thousand different ways, but what does motherhood have to do with posing for a magazine cover? There are few things more demeaning to women than attaching strange forms of moral judgment or superiority to motherhood. It reduces women to just one single-sided aspect of who they are — their parental status. I imagine that there are lots of moms wouldn’t feel comfortable doing a shoot like that if their kids would see it, but it’s totally Kim’s right to do so if she wants to. A mom is still a multifaceted person with all kinds of dimensions to her, both moral and otherwise — just like she was before she birthed a kid. As The Gloss pointed out, Rivera recently posed with her butt on display, which makes this moment of shade even more weird and hypocritical. Does Rivera believe that she has more of a right to show off her body than Kim since she hasn’t procreated? Is showing off your ass only immoral once you’ve had a baby? If Rivera decides to have kids is she then obligated to burn every image of her bare ass that she so gleefully posed for?

Even more irksome is the fact that Rivera is kind of a B-list poseur who is seemingly obsessed with looking and behaving exactly like Kim. She dresses like Kim, imitates her makeup looks, and takes on Kim-style expressions and mannerisms in front of the paparazzi. Now she’s telling her how to live? It’s especially bizarre that Rivera would try to police Kim’s decision to show off her body considering Rivera likes to do the same thing. She bares her body for photo shoots and dresses to highlight her great physical assets, and there is not a damn thing wrong with that either (it’s pretty awesome, if you ask me), but I find it extremely confusing that she now wants to criticize the woman she clearly idolizes for making similar moves. Because she’s a mom?

It makes me so ragey when famous women slut-shame each other — what a waste of the public platform they could be using to talk about literally any topic on this earth that is more constructive.

To be fair, I don’t exactly love Kim’s cover shoot either. The aesthetics kind of skeeve me out and the oil-slathered look makes me want to take a shower. Like most people in America, Kim’s choices annoy the hell out of me half the time. Rivera’s totally entitled to feel the same way, but I don’t know why she thinks it’s her business to pass judgement on Kim as a mother, especially based on something as shallow as a magazine photoshoot.

Naya. Girl. Sorry to sound so harsh, but on this topic, kindly STFU.
