Taylor Swift Reigns Supreme, Sells Over 1 Million Copies Of 1989
It’s official: Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ has become the first million-selling album this year.
Just last week, the pop star sold 1.287 million copies of 1989, making it the first album released this year to pass the million sales mark, and the year’s second-highest seller overall, just underneath the Frozen soundtrack, which was released in 2013.
In laymen’s terms: Swiftie sold more than two copies of her album every SECOND last week. If we put that much effort into doing anything else, we could probably save the world, you guys.
Earlier today, Yahoo prematurely leaked Taylor’s new, not-yet-released video for “Blank Space” by accident, and quickly pulled it down once they realized their error. What we do know about the video is that Taylor plays basically every kind of terrible, awful, crazy girlfriend stereotype there is, including a knife-wielding maniac who takes golf clubs to her man’s fancy car. Check out some stills from the leaked vid below and join us in eagerly anticipating the official release of her second single! Oh, and congrats, Taylor! [USA Today]
Update 12:46 p.m.: Taylor has now released her “Blank Space” music video in its entirety. Check it out after the stills below!
