In light of the last month’s ruling by the Supreme Court that some employers with religious objections to birth control can deny coverage to female employees, Lena Dunham asked her followers Twitter to start an conversation about why we need the stuff in the first place.
I need birth control because I have endometriosis and it helps manage pain. Why do you? — Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) July 23, 2014
The responses she received served as a reminder that there are about a million reasons that someone may rely on birth control — and that you don’t need a reason in the first place. Conservatives, take note.
Lena also tweeted a link to an article written by Planned Parenthood called “Five Things Every Woman Should Know About Birth Control Coverage.” Planned Parenthood is involved in Lena’s upcoming book tour for her memoir Not That Kind Of Girl, so hopefully this is the beginning of a fruitful relationship together!
