Maybe I should be more embarrassed that I’m so excited about this, but for the first time in seven years, Hilary Duff is releasing a new album! Her new single, “Chasing The Sun,” will be released on July 29 along with its music video, and is already available for pre-order. Duff is still at work on the full album, which will come out this fall, and she’s also heading back to TV in the new TVLand series “Younger.” Since making us all fall in love with her as Lizzie McGuire and releasing a slew of pop albums a million years ago, Hilary has gotten married and then separated, had a baby, and even appeared on “Gossip Girl” when the series started to go stale (I totally still watched).
In a press release, Hilary said the single, which Colbie Caillat helped write, “has been a real labor of love, but something I am so proud of.” She went on:
“‘Chasing The Sun’ is just a peek into my new album. I’ve worked very hard and the album is a great representation of the experiences I’ve had in my life and where I want to go from here! I took a break from music for quite awhile, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I’m really proud of the album I’ve made. ‘Chasing The Sun’ is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree.”
Ed Sheeran also wrote for her new album, and told Digital Spy, ”I feel like her record is not what they will expect. Obviously she comes from ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and that pop world, but she’s more grown up now, so it’s more of an adult alternative acoustic sound.” These days, it’s hard to know what to expect from former Disney stars, but as long as she doesn’t channel Miley much, I can deal. Until her album comes out, I’ll be listening to “So Yesterday” and reliving the glory days that was the early 2000s.
