Beauty Test Drive: Essie’s “Style Hunter” Is The Perfect Pinkish Red

Usually I avoid red polish in the summer because I don’t think it emphasizes my tan as well as colors that compliment my olive skin. See: pale pastels. When we received a batch of Essie colors in the mail to Test Drive, I couldn’t fight my attraction to this watermelon red called “Style Hunter.” Why? Because, it’s actually a pink in disguise.

Price: $8.50, Essie

Application: Here’s the thing, I am constantly disappointed by Essie nail polish. I know Essie purposefully creates sheer shades, but it’s impossible to tell which ones are sheer when you browse the bottles at the drug store. The problem with sheer shades is that they can go on streaky, especially when you’re doing your own manicure instead of having your nails done by a professional. So I was thrilled to see that Style Hunter is very opaque, and so this bright color went on flawlessly with just one application. I sealed it in with a chip resistant topcoat.

Results: This shade of red is perfection. This vibrant color compliments a tan and screams, “I’m a classy broad.” Wear it on 4th of July and every day there after for the rest of the summer.
