Beauty Test Drive: Priti NYC 5 Free Nail Polish
I’m not someone who gets excited about specific nail polish colors. I know there are some women who are very specific about how they want one coat of Essie Ballet Slippers and one coat of Essie Mademoiselle. I’ve always just picked whatever color randomly struck my fancy at the moment. But when Priti NYC sent me a handful of shades to test out, I couldn’t stop thinking about a gorgeous coral/peach pink. It managed to be feminine without being too sweet or saccharine. Only increasing my anticipation was the fact that I had a sedate beige manicure for my brother’s wedding, so I couldn’t wait for something more colorful! Once I tried Priti NYC in Park Princess Dahlia (above), I think I have my on-my-toes-always polish of the summer.
Price: $15, PRITI NYC
Results: I love the color and garnered compliments on the unique shade of coral pink. PRITI NYC polishes are cruelty-free, vegan and “five free,” meaning they are made without the carcinogens toluene, dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, and camphor. (Plus, they’re made in the USA!) With a topcoat, the weartime before it started chipping was similar to other medium-end polishes like OPI, Essie and Julep.
My only complaint was that that bad “nail polish smell” lingered slightly longer than other polishes do. I’m assuming one or more of those “five free” carcinogenic chemicals help take the smell away? Still, that’s a small price to pay. It truly wasn’t an issue for me because the smell eventually faded (but I figured that I would mention it for anyone who is particularly sensitive to smell). And since I intend to wear Park Princess Dahlia on my toes all summer, it won’t be a problem!
