LeVar Burton Weeps With Gratitude Over “Reading Rainbow” Kickstarter Donations

It’s been only one day since LeVar Burton launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdsource funds to reboot iconic children’s show “Reading Rainbow” and he’s already hit over $2 million, twice his original goal. In the video above, watch LeVar — aka Geordi LaForge from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” — tearfully react to hitting $1 million:

“I am overwhelmed. Thank you so much. This is going to enable us to really, really do a lot of good. I am so proud that this community has come together to support this effort and it’s a people’s thing. It’s the $5, it’s the $10, it’s the $25, it’s the $1 pledges and it’s unbelievable. Or actually, it’s very believable. Thank you do much. We are literally changing the world, one children’s book at a time.”

So so so awesome. I am not embarrassed to say that if “Reading Rainbow” does indeed hit our television screens again, I’ll be watching from time to time too. [YouTube]
