Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments — heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind the avatars. So we decided to bring back our regular column where we learn all about a Frisky reader. After the jump, meet Marisa!
(And if you’re interested in being featured as a Reader Revealed, shoot me an email with “Reader Revealed” in the subject line!)
Please state your name or avatar, age, and location for The Friskyverse.
Marisa but friends and family call me Mars … just like the planet. 29! This Frisky reader hails from San Antonio!
How did you find the site?
I’ve been following so long, I really can’t remember when I started reading. But, I’ve always been curious how it was named The Frisky … almost sounds like a dirty website. PS: Y’all need an APP. Just saying….
What do you do all day, other than follow The Frisky, which is totally condoned?
I work for a large financial institution in the communications department.
What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?
How will I pick one?! The relationship ones are always interesting to read, plus many of the Mr. Ex-Jessica posts seemed all too familiar. But recently I liked the one about drinking and crafting. I’m pretty crafty myself and have a collection of wine corks I’m not sure to how to use them and now I do! Loved the ideas in that post.
What are your pop culture guilty pleasures?
I’m not that big into pop culture, I don’t watch “Real Housewives” or the Kardashians. But I did catch Lindsay Lohan’s docu-series on OWN. Whoa, that was crazy.
I do follow a few celebs on Instagram. Have you seen Perez Hilton’s kiddo? He’s adorable. Plus all my celeb gossip comes from The Frisky! #duh
Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.
I should start off by saying I am not easily embarrassed and it takes alot to make me blush. With that being said, I woke up one morning and found the BF was in the living room watching TV. So I took a shower and came back to the bedroom to get dressed. Just then I realized I had to fart. Thinking he was still in the living room, I just let it go. It wasn’t until I heard the covers rustling; I realized he had climbed back into bed! As far as I could tell he was asleep and didn’t hear. I told him about it later and boy, did we have a good laugh!
Do you consider yourself a feminist? Why or why not?
While father dearest taught me to never ever depend on a man for anything and for all of my adult life I have succeeded at this, I would say I would identify partially as a feminist. Why partially? Mainly because I do appreciate a man who will open the car door and offer to pay for dinner (chivalry is not dead) … other than that, I guess I would be a feminist. I stand up for my rights and know I can do almost anything a man can do.
If The Frisky staff came over for dinner, what would you serve us?
Since you would be traveling to south Texas, I would make (from scratch) enchiladas, borracho (drunk) beans and rice and margaritas. Lots of margaritas. And let’s not forget guacamole. I love that stuff. On EVERYTHING.
What type of skivvies do you have on right now?
Luckily all my skivvies were clean so I had a lot to choose from this morning. I’m wearing a blue and pink lace thong from VS to be exact.
What is your secret talent?
I crochet! I needed a new hobby a few years ago and learned from YouTube. This isn’t your grandmothers crochet either. You name it, I can crochet it. I’ve made everything from beer koozies to baby bonnets (shaped like a boob) for breast-feeding friend and everything in between.
What’s an amazing book or movie that other Frisky readers absolutely must get their hands on right now?
Is it wrong to say I haven’t read a good book lately? Feels like I just don’t have time to sit and read a book. The other night after dinner, we did watch “Like Water For Chocolate.” I’d never seen it, but really, really enjoyed it.
A few years ago I read Love In the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and that was awesome. The movie with Javier Bardem was pretty good, but not as good as the book (I feel like people always say that). Both have touching love stories and maybe I’m just a sucker for period movies and books.
Which celeb would you most want to get in bed with? Which celeb would you most want to marry?
ENRIQUE IGLESIAS! I bought my first CD when I was in 8th grade and have been obsessed since. I’m listening to his new album on iTunes as we speak. I’ve been to seven concerts in the last two years, including concerts in multiple cities in Texas and in Miami!
Who would I marry? Besides Enrique … probably no one else. The thought of marrying a celeb doesn’t do much for me.
What’s something you hope to see more of on The Frisky?
I like the stuff I read now and always looking forward to something different. I don’t have any suggestions except to keep up the great work! More Enrique articles perhaps? ;)
